How Does Your Moon Sign Show Up in Your Business

The Moon is maybe the most obvious example we have of how something above affects us down below. Like our emotions, it ebbs and flows, moving quickly through the sky as it goes from dark to light and back again. It’s no wonder that humans began to make connections all those years ago. These days, it’s full moon this and new moon that, an emotional connection that’s widely referenced and accepted. But it goes so much deeper than that.

In evolutionary astrology, the Moon represents an underlying need. Something that when tended to, builds emotional wellbeing and fulfillment. When I wrote about the Sun, I spoke about it being the secret to sanity. And now, with the other luminary, I’m essentially saying that the Moon is the secret to happiness.

So … sanity and happiness. What’s the difference?

I personally like to think of the Sun as a container. It gives our soul its central focus, along with primary values and motivations. It’s foundational, in other words. The moon, on the other hand, is more internal and instinctual. A big part of what fills in the Sun’s container. A secondary underlying need. Another focus.

Sometimes, the Sun and Moon will be on the same wavelength. Other times, they’ll be really different.

Take me, for example. I am a Capricorn Sun and Cancer Moon. Opposites. In many ways I represent the Father archetype AND the Mother. My Capricorn Sun wants to work towards its goals and my Cancer Moon wants to feel and heal. So I feel sane when I’m scaling my mountain. But if I don’t tend to my own self care and rest, there is no fulfillment. No bone deep happiness. The outside is working but the inside is not. And so I do my best to honor them both by paying attention to both, attempting to stand right in the middle of my ever tilting see-saw. Work a little, rest a little, rinse and repeat.

For those of you with the same Sun and Moon sign, or signs that are complementary (sextile or trine by sign — ask me in the comments about yours), integration will feel a bit easier.

THE MOON IN BUSINESS

If you’ve been with me for awhile, you know that I’m a brand designer and astrologer, often mixing the two. Which means that I talk a lot about business and entrepreneurship and how our birth charts are a blueprint for how we work best.

So what does the Moon have to do with that?

If your ascendent represents the energy that shows up when you first connect with a potential client or customer and the Sun represents the energy these people experience when they are actively engaging with you beyond first impressions, the Moon is how you make them feel. It’s your attitude and outlook. Your subjective inner world, coming out.

Practically speaking, the underlying need of your moon will quietly infuse itself into the daily work that you do. Remember, the Moon is the secret of happiness. And while its function may be more subtle within the context of business, fulfillment lies within its integration. Without it, there’s a feeling of emptiness. Of not honoring your heart.
